With all of the focus on the state of Georgia’s open carry laws that took effect on July 1, 2014, other notable laws that went into effect on that day went under the radar.

Therefore, here is a list taken from Georgia governor’s blog of some of the state’s new laws.

• The Kyle Glover Boating Education Law is named after Tameka Raymond (Usher’s ex-wife) and Ryan Glover’s son Kyle Glover who was killed on Lake Lanier two years ago. The law requires a person to get a license before he is able to drive a boat.

 • The Fair Business Practices Act has a program that helps individuals who’ve been in prison to transition back into society by providing them information on jobs and education.

• The Zell Miller Grant, named after the state’s former Democratic Gov. Zell Miller, pays the entire tuition of a student attending technical college and who maintains a 3.5 GPA.

 • A statue of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., will be placed on the state capitol’s ground.

 • The Sunday Driving Law permits law enforcement to give tickets to people who are driving too slow in the fast lane.

• The Ten Commandments will be placed on the state capitol grounds along with the State Constitution’s preamble and the U.S. Constitution preamble.
